FARIDABAD NEWS 31 JULY 2025 : GAUTAM ;  The Health Centre of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad in association with Metro Hospital, Faridabad today organized a health awareness talk on Tobacco Cessation and Stress Management under Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative as a part of National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP). 
Dr. Shivam Vatsal Agarwal, Director and Head of the Department of Surgical Oncology, and Dr. Loveleen Mangla, Pulmonologist were resource person during the awareness talk. The session was graced by Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Ranga and Dean Student Welfare Prof. Pradeep Dimri. The session was adeptly convened by Dr. Ankur Sharma, the University Medical Officer.
During the session, Dr. Shivam Vatsal Agarwal highlighted the devastating effects of tobacco consumption, including its direct correlation with TB and other life-threatening conditions such as cancer. He shared practical approaches to quitting tobacco, including counseling, nicotine replacement therapies, and community support systems under the Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative. He urged attendees to take proactive steps toward a tobacco-free lifestyle to reduce the burden of TB and related diseases.
Dr. Loveleen Mangla addressed the impact of stress on physical and mental health, particularly its role in weakening immunity and exacerbating conditions like TB. He provided actionable tips for stress reduction, including mindfulness techniques, time management, and the importance of a balanced lifestyle. His interactive approach engaged the audience, encouraging students and faculty to adopt healthier coping mechanisms.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, where participants, including students, faculty, and staff, actively discussed their concerns about tobacco addiction and stress-related challenges. The experts provided personalized advice, reinforcing the importance of early intervention and professional support. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the speakers' contributions and the hospital's support in making the talk session a success.
