FARIDABAD NEWS 29 NOV 2024 : GAUTAM ; In a commendable effort to instill the spirit of charity among the youth, Dean Student Welfare, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, has launched an initiative called “Joy of Giving.” The campaign aims to collect gently used old items such as clothes, shoes, books, and stationery to donate to needed areas and orphanages.
Under the supervision of Prof. Munish Vashishth, Dean Student Welfare, the initiative is being spearheaded by Prof. Sonia Bansal. The campaign is supported by faculty coordinators and student volunteers associated with various clubs, who are working tirelessly to make this initiative a success.
Appreciating the initiative, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar said that the initiative is a beautiful expression of the University's core values. It not only helps those in need but also enriches the hearts of our students, teaching them the true essence of empathy and social responsibility.
Detailing about the campaign, Prof. Sonia Bansal informed that the primary objective of the “Joy of Giving” initiative is to encourage students to contribute to society by donating items that they no longer need but can be of great value to those in need. The initiative aims to foster a sense of empathy and social responsibility among the youth, teaching them the joy of giving and the importance of helping others.
The campaign involved a collection drive where students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to donate gently used old items. The collected items will be sorted, cleaned, and packed by the volunteers before being distributed to orphanages and other needy areas.
Prof. Munish Vashishth said that the initiative has received overwhelming support from the university community. Faculty members are actively participating by coordinating with student volunteers for collection drives within the University. The University administration has also extended its full support to ensure the success of the campaign. “Joy of Giving” initiative is expected to have a significant impact on both the donors and the recipients. For the donors, it provides an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to society. For the recipients, it offers much-needed support and resources that can improve their quality of life, he added.
