FARIDABAD NEWS 25 AUG 2026 : GAUTAM : Under the 'Weekly Skill Boost' series, the Department of Communication and Media Technology at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, organized an educational industrial visit for BSW and MSW Social Work students to Devashray Animal Hospital, Nimka. The objective of this visit was to familiarize students with the practical aspects of animal welfare, community engagement, compassion, and social responsibility.
During the visit, students toured various shelters and care centers set up for different animals at Devashray. They learned about the care and conservation arrangements made for a variety of animals, including cows, dogs, camels, rabbits, monkeys, and ducks. Through this experience, the students understood the importance of sensitivity toward animals, humane behavior, and social responsibility toward living beings.
Prof. Pawan Singh, Chairperson of CMT, appreciated the efforts made by the Devashray team toward animal welfare and community-centric initiatives. Congratulating the students for participating in such meaningful and informative educational visits, he stated that experiential learning not only helps students become better professionals but also plays a crucial role in making them sensitive and responsible citizens.
Ms. Shilpa, Coordinator at Devashray, guided the students through the entire campus and provided detailed information about the various activities and operational methods of Devashray. She particularly highlighted a community initiative wherein women's self-help groups from neighboring villages prepare various useful products from cow dung. Through this initiative, students gained practical insight into the interconnectedness of animal welfare, women empowerment, livelihood promotion, community engagement, and social entrepreneurship.
On this occasion, Ms. Sampada, Director (Communication), Sarvodaya Health Care, warmly welcomed the students and encouraged them for connecting with such a noble and humane cause as animal welfare. Coordinators Dr. Akhilesh Tripathi and Dr. Narendra Dhull mentioned that this educational visit provided students with the opportunity to connect classroom-taught social work principles with real-world scenarios. Students practically understood concepts such as community engagement, empowerment, self-help groups, livelihood promotion, social responsibility, compassion, and service.
