FARIDABAD NEWS 08 APRIL 2026 : GAUTAM : The two-day National Seminar on “Smart & Sustainable Agriculture for Atmanirbhar Bharat: Technologies, Policies and Practices” concluded successfully at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad. The seminar was organized by the Department of Electronics Engineering and brought together eminent scientists, academicians, researchers, and students from across the country.
The seminar focused on the integration of advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), remote sensing, and renewable energy systems with agriculture to address contemporary challenges related to sustainability, productivity, and climate resilience.
During the two days, the seminar featured State-of-the-Art lectures, keynote sessions, and multiple technical sessions, where around 36 research papers were presented by participants representing diverse institutions. These papers covered emerging areas such as precision agriculture, AI-based crop prediction, smart irrigation systems, agricultural data security, and innovative communication technologies for farming.
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Baban Kumar S. Bansod, Chief Scientist, CSIO Chandigarh, while Prof. Rajive Kumar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University, addressed the participants and emphasized the role of interdisciplinary research in achieving self-reliance in agriculture.
On the second day, the seminar witnessed an insightful session by Dr. Bimal K. Bhattacharya, Group Director, Space Applications Centre (ISRO), Ahmedabad. In his address, he highlighted the transformative role of space-based technologies in agricultural forecasting, agro-advisories, crop insurance, and precision farming systems.
The valedictory session reflected upon the outcomes of the seminar, emphasizing that the event successfully created a platform where technology meets real-world agricultural challenges. The speakers highlighted that such initiatives are crucial in bridging the gap between research and field-level implementation.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Munish Vashishath, Chairperson and Seminar Chair, remarked that the seminar has moved beyond discussions to generate meaningful insights and collaborations, reinforcing the idea that sustainable agriculture requires continuous innovation and collective responsibility.
The seminar was convened by Dr. Manju Kumari and Co-convened by Dr. Lalit Rai, whose efforts in conceptualizing and executing the event were widely appreciated. The organizing team, faculty members, and students were also acknowledged for their dedication and coordination in ensuring the success of the event.
The seminar concluded with a strong message that sustainable agriculture is not merely a goal but an ongoing responsibility, and that technological advancements must be effectively translated into practical solutions for farmers.
