FARIDABAD NEWS 07 APRIL 2026 : GAUTAM : The Department of Electronics Engineering at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad successfully inaugurated a two-day National Seminar on “Smart & Sustainable Agriculture for Atmanirbhar Bharat: Technologies, Policies and Practices.” The event brought together eminent scientists, academicians, researchers, industry experts, and students from across the country to deliberate on the future of agriculture through technological innovation and sustainable practices. The inaugural session commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. The dignitaries were warmly welcomed, and a sapling was presented to the Chief Guest as a token of sustainability and environmental commitment . Prof. Munish Vashishath, Dean Institutions and Chairperson of the Department of Electronics Engineering, delivered the Welcome Address, emphasizing that agriculture is the backbone of the nation and highlighting the urgent need to integrate emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT, and renewable energy with traditional agricultural practices. He underlined that the seminar aims to bridge the gap between research and real-world implementation, ensuring that innovations reach the grassroots level . The Convener, Dr. Manju Kumari, presented the theme and objectives of the seminar, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, and declining soil health. The Chief Guest, Dr. Baban Kumar Shyam Bansod, Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR–Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), Chandigarh, delivered an insightful keynote address. He stressed that Indian agriculture, while productive, remains inefficient due to lack of data-driven decision-making. He emphasized the need for sensor-based monitoring, multi-parameter analysis, and practical field-level solutions, urging researchers to move beyond publications and focus on scalable, farmer-friendly innovations . Distinguished dignitaries including senior faculty members and advisors also addressed the gathering, appreciating the initiative of the department in organizing a seminar that aligns technology with one of the most critical sectors of the Indian economy.
