FARIDABAD NEWS 20 MARCH 2026 : GAUTAM :  In a significant step towards promoting inclusivity and supporting the academic aspirations of girl students in engineering, the J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, organized a Laptop Facilitation Ceremony under the Women in Engineering (WiE) initiative.

The program, titled “Empowering Women Engineers”, was conducted by IEEE YMCA Student Branch in collaboration with Shikshana Foundation and Hitachi Energy, with support from IEEE Delhi Section PES-IAS and IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Delhi Section.

On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rajive Kumar, distributed laptops to seven meritorious girl students from engineering backgrounds to support their academic journey. The beneficiaries from J.C. Bose University include Mehak Panchal, Nikita Verma, Payal, Simran, and Soniya Kumari, all pursuing B.Tech (Electrical Engineering). The other recipients, Anisha Jha and Manvi, are from Netaji Subhas University of Technology, Delhi.

In addition to laptops, each selected student has been awarded a scholarship of ₹21,000 along with ₹6,000 towards internet support, ensuring uninterrupted access to digital learning tools. The program also includes mentorship, soft skills training, and career guidance to enhance employability and overall development.

The initiative for introducing the WiE scholarship in the University was taken by Dr. Rashmi Aggarwal, Associate Professor at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA and Chair, IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Delhi Section.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar applauded the efforts of Shikshana Foundation and Hitachi Energy for their commitment to empowering young women in STEM fields. He also appreciated the role of IEEE and its Women in Engineering wing in identifying deserving candidates and successfully coordinating the initiative. He encouraged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the support provided and strive for excellence in their academic and professional journeys.

The event was graced by distinguished guests including Dr. Rashmi Aggarwal, Chair, IEEE WIE Delhi Section, and Dr. Bhumika Makwana from Shikshana Foundation, along with Deans, Chairpersons, and faculty members of the University. 

The WiE program, launched in 2020, has been instrumental in supporting over 200 girl students across India, reflecting a sustained commitment to bridging the gender gap in engineering and fostering a more inclusive technological ecosystem. The ceremony concluded on an inspiring note, with students expressing gratitude and determination to leverage the opportunity for achieving their career goals.
