FARIDABAD NEWS 23 APRIL 2026 : GAUTAM : J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad launched the Gram Panchayat Scholarship Scheme during the Sarpanch and Principal Meet organized on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day. Representatives of various Gram Panchayats, school principals, academicians and distinguished guests participated in the programme. The event was chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajive Kumar.
The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Sanjeev Goyal, Principal, Community College of Skill Development (CCSD). He welcomed the representatives from Panchayats and schools and gave a detailed presentation on the various courses being offered by CCSD. He informed that the University is providing skill-based education, industry-aligned programmes, Earn While Learn opportunities, internships, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), certification courses and employment-oriented training. He emphasized that youth, especially from rural backgrounds, can greatly benefit from these programmes and become self-reliant. He urged Panchayat representatives to spread awareness among rural youth and motivate them to enroll in these courses.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar said that the Gram Panchayat Scholarship Scheme is not merely a scheme, but a strong opportunity to connect rural youth with education, skills and self-reliance. He stated that the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme and industry-aligned courses under CCSD are gaining popularity among industries. Several industries are approaching the University to introduce skill certification programmes that would create better employment opportunities for youth in the coming years.
The Vice Chancellor further assured that apart from this scholarship scheme, the University would make every possible effort to ensure that no deserving student is deprived of skill education due to financial constraints if he or she is willing to upgrade themselves and such a proposal comes through the Gram Panchayat.
The Gram Panchayat Scholarship Scheme, launched on this occasion, is specifically designed for students belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) who wish to seek admission to various courses offered by CCSD. Under this scheme, eligible students will be granted a 100% waiver on tuition fees. To avail of this benefit, applicants must provide a recommendation from the Sarpanch of their respective Gram Panchayat, an EWS certificate issued by the Government of Haryana, a Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP), and proof that their family's annual income is less than Rs 8 lakh. Furthermore, under this scheme, five seats have been reserved in each of the B.Voc., PG Diploma, and Diploma courses conducted by CCSD. This initiative marks a significant step toward connecting rural talent with higher education and skill development opportunities.
On the occasion, Sh. Suraj Pal Boora, Chairman, Sarpanch Association Faridabad, and Advocate Sanjay Kumar, Chairman, Sarpanch Association and Sarpanch of Village Sehrala, Prithla, also addressed the gathering. They said that it was a matter of pride for Panchayat representatives to become partners in the University’s skill education initiative. They congratulated the University on National Panchayati Raj Day for this innovative step.
Sh. Amit, DSP Neemka Jail and alumnus of the University, along with Mrs. Anshu Singla, DEO Faridabad, were also present during the programme and appreciated the scholarship initiative and the University’s efforts in skill development.
During the event, students presented an impressive Yoga demonstration and vibrant Haryanvi folk dance, which were highly appreciated by the audience.
At the end of the programme, Panchayat representatives were felicitated with shawls and mementoes. Thereafter, Prof. Munish Vashishtha proposed the vote of thanks. The event was well coordinated by Vice Principal Dr. Sapna Taneja and faculty members of CCSD.
The University expressed confidence that the scheme would provide new momentum to rural youth towards skill education, employment and self-reliance.
