FARIDABAD NEWS 16 APRIL 2026 : GAUTAM :  The two-day International Conference on Trends & Advances in Mechanical Engineering (TAME 2026) organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, begins here. More than 200 participants are attending the conference.

Distinguished academician Prof. D.S. Chauhan, Former Vice Chancellor, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow  (Uttar Pradesh) was chief guest in the inaugural session which was presided over by Prof. Rajive Kumar, Vice Chancellor of J.C. Bose University. Sh. S.S. Banga, Managing Director, Victora Industries, Faridabad, Dr. Subhash Sharma, Senior Lecturer at Central Queensland University, Australia, and Sh. Pramod Rana, President, IMT Industries Association Faridabad, were presented as invited guest. Registrar Prof. Ajay Ranga and Dean (FET) Prof. Raj Kumar were also present on this occasion.

Conference inaugurated with lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana, followed by welcome address by Prof. Arvind Gupta, Chairperson of the Department, who briefed about the Conference and the Department. He apprised that the Conference will connect academia and industry, featuring 160 accepted research papers, two plenary talks from various parts of the world, including the USA and South Africa, five technical sessions and an industrial conclave aimed at addressing key issues faced by industries in the region, with ten expert panelists facilitating this crucial dialogue.

Speaking on this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar highlighted mechanical engineering as the backbone of industrial development. He stresses the need for mechanical engineering curricula to evolve from conventional to sustainable innovation, incorporating emerging technologies like AI, Industry 4.0, and additive manufacturing. Prof. Kumar said that the University is going to setup an advance Centre of Excellence on Automation and Mechatronics in association with Siemens.

Addressing the session, Sh. S.S. Banga emphasized the rapid changes in advanced mechanical engineering over the last 30-40 years, particularly with the integration of Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence. He stressed the need for universities to constantly upgrade their curriculum to keep pace with engineering advancements, citing examples of live data and automation in factories. He encouraged students to explore their interests in various fields, stay updated with technological advancements, and engage actively with professors to ask questions and seek answers.

In his address, Prof. Sharma, explained that the role of mechanical engineers has evolved beyond traditional design and maintenance, especially with manufacturing shrinking in countries like Australia. He emphasized that the era of engineers solely relying on mathematics and drawings is over, and with Industry 5.0, a broader understanding of societal impact and human factors is crucial. He encouraged continuous innovation, strategic planning using the 'Plan, Do, Check, Act' cycle, and considering biomimicry for future engineering solutions.

Chief Guest Prof. D.S. Chauhan suggested that modern technology allows humans to achieve qualities once attributed to gods, such as omnipresence, omnipotence, and omniscience. He concluded by urging the participants to elevate their knowledge to bring greater respect to their country and contribute to humanity.
