FARIDABAD NEWS 13 MAY 2025 : GAUTAM : The “Science Conclave 2025” themed Emerging Science, Young Minds and Enthusiastic Innovations: A Vision for Viksit Bharat kicked off today at J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad. Organized by the Faculty of Sciences and funded by the Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation and Technology (HSCSIT), the two-day event targets undergraduate and postgraduate students from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Life Sciences, and Environmental Sciences departments.
The conclave was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar, alongside Chief Guest Prof. Avinash Chandra Pandey, Director, Inter-University Accelerator Centre, New Delhi, and Guest of Honour Prof. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh. The ceremony began with the lighting of the traditional lamp, a prayer to Goddess Saraswati, and the University Kulgeet.
Director (R&D) Prof. Maneesha Garg, Dean (Sciences) and Program Convener Prof. Anuradha Sharma, Chairperson Mathematics, Prof. Neetu Gupta, Chairperson Physics Prof. Sonia Bansal, Chairperson Chemistry, Dr. Ravi Kumar, Chairperson Life Sciences Dr. Kakoli Dutt, Chairperson Environmental Sciences Dr. Renuka Gupta and faculty members of all Science departments were also present on this occasion. 
Prof. Anuradha Sharma, Dean (Sciences) and Program Convener, introduced the event, highlighting its significance and the lineup of speakers. With around 250 registrations, the conclave features competitions like poster making, scientific models, and science drama. She emphasized the importance of understanding scientific concepts over rote learning and addressed the declining interest in science among students.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tomar welcomed participants and dignitaries, sharing insights on the Indian Knowledge System and cultural values. He encouraged students to embrace failure as a learning opportunity, citing Thomas Edison’s persistence in inventing the light bulb.
Chief Guest Prof. Pandey started his talk with the technology used in recent ongoing war situation between India and Pakistan, and engaged the audience with insights into technologies relevant to India’s defense landscape, traditional trigonometry, and astronomical calculations. He discussed radiation units (Becquerel, Gray, Sievert), the need for fusion-based reactors, and India’s contributions to global projects like ITER and EAST. He concluded by referencing Kanad Rishi and Stephen Hawking, urging students to stay connected to their roots.
Guest of Honour Prof. Sharma addressed students as “budding scientists,” emphasizing the role of science in transforming communities and nations. Highlighting the scientific temperament distinguishing India, he stressed the importance of curiosity, creativity, and commitment as the three Cs driving student success.
Dr. Rajesh Kumar Gupta from Govt. College Rewari inspired attendees with a performance of patriotic songs and reflections on Swami Vivekananda. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Neetu Gupta, Chairperson (Mathematics) and Convener, who commended the organizing committee’s efforts. Dignitaries were felicitated, followed by a group photograph.
The conclave promises a vibrant platform for young innovators to showcase their scientific prowess and contribute to India’s vision of progress.
