Academic delegation from Kashmir visited J.C. Bose University

FARIDABAD NEWS 08 JAN 2025 :  GAUTAM :  J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, today hosted a meaningful discussion on the topic 'Our Vision on Kashmir' with the academic delegation from Kashmir. The discussion was convened by the Dean Student Welfare of the University in collaboration with Panchnad Research Institute, Chandigarh and Media Students Association Haryana.
The academic delegation from Kashmir was led by Narendra Singh, State President, Media Students Association, Haryana, which include the academicians namely Dr. Waheed Ahmad Khanday, Dr Khalid Rasool Bhat, Dr Refaz Ahmad, Dr Khurshid Ahmad Mir, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Malik, and Burhan Bhat, Student Coordinator of MSA. 
The session was presided over by Prof. Sushil Kumar Tomar, Vice-Chancellor of the University, who extended warm welcome to delegation in the University. Addressing the session, Vice-Chancellor said that Kashmir is the integral part of our Country, and it very heart warming to welcome an academic delegation of Kashmir visited the University for the first time.
The beauty of Kashmir lies not only in its landscape but also in the uniqueness of its culture and language. It has suffered a lot in the past few decades which hit the economy of the valley, but after 2019, things are improving. He said that Kashmir valley need to maintain this momentum with the same by promoting the spirit with universal brotherhood and harmony in the society. Prof. Tomar described Kashmir as the “Land of paradise”, surrounded by the Himalayas, which is jewel of India on the world map. Vice-Chancellor emphasised the significance of Research and Development in the Institutions across the Country, including Kashmir and issues pertaining to the environment degradation due to Pollution and Industrialisation.
During the discussion, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Malik from Government Degree College for Women, Anantnag (J&K) gave a brief introduction on the ground situation of School Education in the Valley. He said that the formal education in the southern Kashmir are relying on madrasas, which has over 6,200 in unofficial count, however, the Government Institutions are less in numbers. Students studying in these madarsas remain far from modern education. However, initiatives have been taken by the Government to improve the quality of education by monitoring the modernization program of Madrasas, he added. Prof. Malik also discussed traditional culture of Kashmir during 1950 and 1960, and Kashmiri version of Islam, and the Muslim society, which has its own peculiar identity and different from other world.
The delegation discussed the transformational phase in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370, which has brought socio-economic development in Jammu-Kashmir and how it has been fully integrated into the mainstream of the nation. Despite religious plurality and linguistic diversity, Kashmir is an integral part of the country. The delegation invited the University officials for a visit to Jammu and Kashmir to witness the change.
