FARIDABAD NEWS 02 APRIL 2025 : GAUTAM : The Office of Dean Students Welfare of J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, today hosted a mesmerizing puppet show titled ‘Taming of the Wild’  by Kolkata's renowned Dolls Theatre, led by famous puppeteer Sudip Gupta.

Taming of the Wild was a contemporary puppet theatre show which was directed by Sudip Gupta, and presented by an eight-member team. The show displayed the interaction of various beautiful forms of nature - butterflies, fishes, and trees, in their pristine form, and the human interactions with them. 

The hour-long show was divided into four episodes - The World Within; Floral Tribute; Movements in Wilderness; and Call of the Wild, and each of them had a different story. The performance portrayed the delicate relationship between nature and humanity, delivering a powerful message: if balance is not maintained between humans and nature, it could threaten our very existence. The dramatization of the contents is done by non-verbal means; by precise movement of the puppets, by playing with form and colour and by loud and soft sound effects. 

Dean Student Welfare Prof. Pradeep Dimri, Dean (Institutions) Prof. Munish Vashishth, Chairperson (Mechanical Engineering Prof Arvind Gupta and senior officials of the University were present on this occasion.

The Dolls Theatre, founded by Sudip Gupta in 1990, is a leading contemporary Puppet Theatre Group in India and recognized globally for its artistry. The group has performed widely in India and abroad. It has also represented country at various International Puppet Theatre Festivals. The students and staff of the University enjoyed every bit of the programme which presented an enthralling and unique performance of the puppeteers.

The event was an inspiring cultural and educational experience, leaving students spellbound and motivating them to reflect on their relationship with the environment and take active steps toward its preservation. The program was coordinated by Vivekanand Manch of the University.

After the performance, Sudip Gupta and his team interacted with the students, answering their questions. Mr. Gupta said that Puppetry has been an integral part of India’s rich traditions and is easy for children to learn. He highlighted that puppetry enhances children’s creative thinking, storytelling abilities, emotional balance, and communication skills.
