FARIDABAD NEWS 29 NOV 2025 : GAUTAM : J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad today celebrated Gita Jayanti with a grand spiritual and intellectual event. Renowned scholar and educationist Acharya Rajendra Kumar Anayat, a distinguished exponent of the Bhagavad Gita's philosophy and its timeless relevance to contemporary life, graced the occasion as the keynote speaker, while the programme was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar.
In his welcome address, Prof. Rajive Kumar described the Bhagavad Gita as the eternal guiding light of Indian knowledge tradition. He said, “The Gita is not merely a scripture; it is a living teaching of Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Dhyana Yoga that illuminates the path of dharma, duty and self-realization for humanity in every age.” The Vice-Chancellor urged the entire university community, especially students, to imbibe the ethical and spiritual values of the Gita and contribute towards nation-building.
Delivering the keynote address, Acharya Rajendra Kumar Anayat spoke at length on the philosophy of the Gita, its universal relevance and its timeless significance in the modern world. He described the Gita as the “spiritual science” that purifies the mind, intellect and soul, and shows the path of balance, surrender and sadhana at every stage of life.
Highlighting the deep connection of Haryana with the Bhagavad Gita, Acharya Anayat said that the land of Haryana (Kurukshetra) is the sacred birthplace of Lord Krishna’s immortal teaching. He emphasized that limiting the existence of Haryana only to 1966 amounts to ignoring its ancient historical and spiritual heritage. Explaining the etymology of the name “Haryana”, he stated that the word is derived from “Hari” (Lord Vishnu/Krishna) and “Yana” (inspired from the Sanskrit word Yānam, meaning journey or path). Thus, Haryana has been an integral part of Lord Krishna’s life journey and the divine discourse of the Gita for nearly 2500 years.
The programme also included discussions on the glory of the Gita (Gita Mahatmya), the history of Gita Jayanti, and various streams of yogic philosophy expounded in the scripture. Students, faculty members and staff of the university participated with great devotion and enthusiasm. The event concluded in a serene, spiritually charged and inspiring atmosphere.
The programme was smoothly conducted under the guidance of Prof. Atul Mishra, with Dr. Parul Tomar and Dr. Sonali as co-coordinators.
